The Embrace of Jesus Brings your Soul Rest

26 Yes, Father, for this way was well pleasing in Your sight. 27 All things have been handed over to Me by My Father; and no one knows the Son except the Father; nor does anyone know the Father except the Son, and anyone to whom the Son determines to reveal Him.

28 “Come to Me, all who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. 29 Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and YOU WILL FIND REST FOR YOUR SOULS. 30 For My yoke is comfortable, and My burden is light.”

Matthew 11:26-30

The religious spirit or I could also say the lying spirit celebrates workload. It celebrates the amount of things you can do and pushes you to the point of exhaustion. The yoke of Jesus is easy and it is light. Yet Jesus also says “pick up your cross and follow me”. How do these two things work together?' ‘Pick up your cross’, and ‘deny yourself’ certainly seem hard. The reality is the spirit of fear and the wicked principalities of this world desire to put you in bondage while you think you are in freedom. The yoke of the world seems easy yet is heavy. The yoke of Jesus seems hard and yet you find your life. The decision of trust in your relationship with Jesus is exactly what crushes the weight of the world off your shoulders. If you ever find yourself burnt out, tired and exhausted don’t go rest. Go find Jesus. True rest is not rest of the body it is the embrace of Jesus that crushes the painful burden of the principalities of this world off your chest. Many people seek physical and emotional rest in a time of feeling broken by the world. Although I value emotional and physical rest immensely, the only real rest is found when the embrace of the almighty squeezes the world right out of you. Embrace his rest by collapsing in his sure Word. You can trust Him.
