The Victory is in the Plant

We are living in a time of cultural upheaval. The demonic realm is moving to set up camp in the places that have long been reserved for the Lord. At the same time, there is an outpouring of the Holy Spirit that is happening all across this nation. The light is not clashing with darkness but is extinguishing it. I am so encouraged to see the amount of young people being saved. Nevertheless, it is true that evil is protruding into areas that have long been held in purity. In times of conflict it is easy to fall into reaction of the enemy or to adopt the enemies’ ways. Psalm 52 gives us an amazing picture into what the correct response of the believer is in times of shaking. It is this response that brings the Kingdom of Heaven now.

52 Why do you boast in evil, you mighty man? The faithfulness of God endures all day long. Your tongue devises destruction, Like a sharp razor, you worker of deceit. You love evil more than good, Lies more than speaking what is right. Selah You love all words that devour, You deceitful tongue. But God will break you down forever; He will snatch you up and tear you away from your tent, And uproot you from the land of the living. Selah The righteous will see and fear, And they will laugh at him, saying, “Behold, the man who would not make God his refuge, But trusted in the abundance of his riches And was strong in his evil desire.” But as for me, I am like a green olive tree in the house of God;
I trust in the faithfulness of God forever and ever.
I will praise You forever, because You have done it, And I will wait on Your name, for it is good, in the presence of Your godly ones.

David is coming against a mighty man. A mighty man who is strong in his abundance of wealth and resources. His scope of influence protects him. This mighty man works deceit by lying. He loves evil but acts like he is good. He is a counterfeit. He acts like he is for you and secretly wants to destroy you, but would never show you that side of him or admit it. The tongue of this mighty man desires to remove strength from people so that those people will serve him. This man’s trust is in his abundance. He speaks to build people into his realm of influence and scope of power. He speaks to bring the peoples’ gifts into his control by any means necessary. David challenges this demonic mighty man. He first opposes him through wisdom of what the faithfulness of God really means. He says to the might man, how do you think boasting in evil will work for you? The Lord will never stop fighting on my behalf! This strong man wants to make you feel that the evil that empowers him will overtake you. David is reminding him. Did you not forget? My God always fights for me. David then tells this strong man what God will do with him. Notice that David doesn’t say what he will do just what God will do. God first breaks the strong man to pieces. Then he picks up the strong man and removes him from his place of ruling. The last thing God does is pull the roots up that the strong man had planted. This act of God is so powerful that the righteous people are filled with joy and fear at the judgement of God against this strong man. David then begins to explain what his role is in this whole battle is. David explains that he is a tree that is ALIVE and that produces the anointing! His roots are in in God’s presence. He is not nervous about being attacked because the Lord will always fight for him. David then describes how he fights the battle. By worshipping with the saints.

I will praise You forever, because You have done it, And I will wait on Your name, for it is good, in the presence of Your godly ones.

The name of the Lord is absolutely powerful enough to hold on to and to trust in. Your victory is not in your fight but it’s in the Name.
